Williams Team Wins A Double

The Macedon Lodge camp was typically tight-lipped but trainer Robert Hickmott was all smiles after Resetable’s outstanding debut win at Thursday’s Geelong Synthetic meeting.

The son of Zabeel sat near the tail of the field before blowing away his rivals with a blistering turn of foot to easily win the Eddy Elias Menswear Maiden Plate (1300m).

Hickmott declined to speak after the race but the winning rider Nick Hall said he was always confident the Lloyd Williams-owned four-year-old would reel in the leaders from his rearward position.

“He’s a very nice horse so I was pretty confident,” Hall said.

“He drew out wide so there was no point going forward on him. He had the turn of foot to overcome the deficit to the leaders.”

Resetable is a four-year-old out of the Danehill mare Assertiveness who is a half-sister to Group I winners Assertive Lad and Assertive Lass.

Assertive Lass is the dam of Reset. Williams owned Reset before selling the unbeaten galloper to Darley after wins in the Group I Futurity Stakes and Australian Guineas.

Niblick completed a running double for Macedon Lodge with a crushing win after leading all the way in the Betfair Maiden Plate (1300m).

Niblick is a son of Encosta De Lago out of the Sir Tristram mare Leica Vista. Leica Vista is the dam of the Group II Sandown Guineas winner Moon Dragon.

Macedon Lodge paid $200,000 for Resetable at the 2008 Inglis Easter Sale while Niblick was a $220,000 purchase at the 2008 Magic Millions sale.
